The resort has a total of 109 guest rooms in 6 different grades to offer a peaceful stay. They are The Beach House, Point Suites, Wistari Suites, Heron Beachside Suites, Reef Suites and Turtle Rooms. All the rooms are well furnished and include a hairdryer, radio, refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities, an ironing set and a balcony or terrace.

Covering 18 hectares, the island lies on the Tropic of Capricorn (23 degrees south of the equator), 72 km north-east off the coast of Gladstone, central Queensland. It is 534 km north of Brisbane and 1,183 km south of Cairns. Heron Island operates 1 hour ahead of Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) all year round. Gladstone Airport is approximately 72 km from the resort.
