Conveniently located on the edge of the historical seaside village of Maleme, Summer Lodge, an attractive, family run vacation lodging is a fine example of traditional Greek architecture. Only 5 Kms from the centre of Platanias and 16 Kms west of Hania town, is the ideal starting point for the visitors requiring a wide variety of sandy beaches, water sport activities, peaceful countryside walks, or interesting visits in archaeological and historical sites.
With the tremendous advantage of being no more than 400 meters by footpath to the long, quiet beach of Maleme, mostly sandy but also pebbly and a number of nearby tavernas as well as a supermarket and other shops, the situation couldn't be more convenient and car hire, although useful, is not essential. The superb 10m x 5m pool is surrounded by sun terraces and is supplied with patio furniture and sun lounges.
Set around a pretty, flower filled courtyard and orange grove, our house has a total of 17 well furnished and nicely decorated rooms. They all have ensuite shower rooms, wc and wash hand basin and are equipped with a fridge, cooling fan & safety deposit box. Most of the rooms have balconies or open terraces whilst others on the ground floor, that face onto the gardens have a patio area and are particularly cool in the heat of the summer. Next to the garden, there is a shaded area with free Internet Wi-Fi connection, where breakfast is served at the additional charge of 4 ?/person and drinks during the evenings. Near by attractions & activities include: Amusement Water Park, local festivals & live music, historical interests, sandy beaches, nature-picnic area, lake & national parks, antique shopping, museums & art galleries, traditional cuisine & fine dining.Swimming & water sports, fishing & diving, wind surfing & boat tours, mini golf, hiking trails, sight seeing tours, tennis courts, horseback riding, bird watching, bicycle & motor bike rental.
We at Summer Lodge have started using solar panels for water heating since the very first day in business. We participate in the local community's recycling program by separating glass, metal and paper, while we use energy-saving light bulbs and special apparatus to reduce the water consumption in the shower rooms since 2000. We plan to make use solar panels for the whole roof soon to power all the electricity that way!
In the unfortunate event that you need to cancel your booking, although deposits are not refundable, your money will not be lost, but kept in your account for a future booking. PLEASE NOTE: The amount due of the reservation is payable by cash only, upon arrival.
