This splendid 19th Century Georgian House was built in 1850. The charming Galway hotel is a former estate house for the landed gentry, who prized it for its serenity. Set in 7 acres of woodland gardens in the magnificent wilderness of Connemara, the accommodation is only 22 km from Galway City on the N59 main Galway/Clifden road. The centre of Oughterard with its restaurants, bars/pubs, tourist attractions and shops is around 7 km from the hotel. There is a river which runs through the hotel grounds and Lough Corrib is about a 45 minute walk or approximately 7 km away. Spidal Beach and the Atlantic Ocean are both approximately 20 km away. Tourist attractions in the area include Aughnanure Castle (around 5 km away), Galway City (about 22 km away), the Aran Islands (approximately 25 km away), Kylemore Abbey (about 45 km away) and the Cliffs of Moher (around 100 km from the hotel). Galway Airport is approximately 3.5 km away and Ireland West Airport Knock and Shannon Airport both around 110 km away.
