Built as a medieval monastery, strategically located on top of the hill to enjoy the whole magnificent view of the below sea. At the beginning of twentieth century, Baron Baratta took over what remained of the ancient monastery and restored to a summer residence. Only in a second time, the villa, was transformed from a private residential house into the Hotel. Since its opening, the hotel welcommed famous personalities, such as the Duke of Windsor and rewarded and famous actors and actresses such as Elizabeth Taylor, Greta Garbo, Rita Hayworth, Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart who were hotel guests, attracted either by the Ligurian sea and by the charm of this gorgeous structure.

The Wellness Center offers to hotel guests yoga, pilates, ayurveda and aromatherapy, in addition to a wide range of facial and body treatments. The gym for fitness, tennis court and swimming pool with sea water are on offer for sport and fun.
