Charming House Dd724 Hotel Description

The Charming House DD724 is located in the sestiere of Dorsoduro, on the Rio Torreselle and on the Fondamenta Venier dei Leoni in Venice. This Venice hotel is a pre-nineteenth century building which was opened in summer 2003.

An ‘Inn’ with charm and modern design, DD724 is a boutique hotel created by the architect Mauro Mazzolini who has completed many projects through Italy, including Umbria where he resides. DD724 is situated next to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, a few steps from the Cini Palace, the Galleria dell’Accademia and the Chiesa della Salute in the heart of Venetian art. Immediately upon entering the hotel, the guest immediately finds himself surrounded by monuments, the lagoon and the allure of the city. The eyes are drawn to works of art by some of the most important representatives of Italian painting, such as Raimondo Galeano, whose artistic research began as a form of pictorial expression based on the study of the image using true classical painting techniques, Stefania Orrù, Nazareno Luciani, Terenzio Eusebi, Gianni Tarli and the photography of Piero Roi.

Games with light (designed to create specific atmospheres in rooms) and an avant-garde technique in furnishing which harmonises functionality and originality of design are our signature marks in all the accommodations. There are also clearly special and sought-after details such as new generation high-tech, liquid crystal TVs, internet access with ISDN connection in rooms and an internet point with an ASDL connection in the reception of the hotel. Even the way in which these modern details are brought together with the furnishing is distinctive. To the technological functionality is added the warm atmosphere which is created in our 7 rooms by features such as the small fireplace, exposed beams in the ceiling, and glimpses of the characteristic views of the most authentic Venice: the view of the Rio Toreselle and its gondolas below, a fresh vista of the Giudecca canal and the Garden of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. The atmospheric lighting contributes to the silence and elegance of the place, candles shed light as if to continue to the magic heart of Venice and it’s fascination for art and culture.

Our appreciation of art is an aspect of the hotel highlighted by a small but selected library of books of art, of the countryside and urban views, there to delight the guest on grey winter days whilst sipping tea. In fact, the main aim of the creator of DD724 design hotel was to offer an alternative to the ever more dominant conventionality of mass tourism, with a love of what matters in our wonderful Venice Hotel. The goal of the Charming House Hotels is providing exceptional comfort while evoking a depth of feeling and reaction to both Venice and the accommodations, by offering a more authentically Venetian way of experiencing it.

Practicalities: breakfast is served either in the dining room with a window overlooking the Peggy Guggenheim Collection or room service with characteristic chinaware evocative of trips round the world; the vast choice of bread, hot croissants, jams and honey of the highest quality will wake the guest in the most pleasant way. The style and the high quality of comfort created by the owner, Chiara Bocchini, were decided upon after many years of working in her hotel in Milano Marittima. Ms. Bocchini decided to propose a new and simple way to live an unforgettable journey in Venice.
