      Cleaning

This hotel is great. We stay here every year and we really enjoy it. We do notice some decay on the interior every year, though they freshened up the outside.
The sustainability policy should be reviewed: the chambermaids change the towels every day unless told to, even if we don't leave them on the floor, and since last year, they replaced their reusable placemats at breakfast with paper disposable ones, which creates lots of unnecessary waste.

Positive: The location, the breakfast, the dinner. Rita from the breakfast staff and Tiago, Afonso and Sr. Domingos from the dinner staff are extremely friendly and always ready to help and chat, which makes you feel really welcomed. The rooms are also clean and the pool area is big enough for all the guests.

Negative: Although big, the pool area could use some maintenance. The lifeguard in the pool, who doesn't sit in an appropriate area (too far from the pools) is not really friendly and seems distracted. Because there is a lot of wind, there is sometimes litter on the water (wet paper napkins, etc). Although it's not the hotel's fault, the staff could clean it which would make the pool seem cleaner. The carpets throughout the hotel are not clean and need replacing. The breakfast staff, apart from the super nice Rita, are not the friendliest in the world and often shout at each other in front of guests. Finally a note for the reception staff: you are the first thing people see when they enter the hotel. It wouldn't kill you to be nice, smile and say hello!
