The hotel is a beautiful manor house that was designed, in part, by the author Thomas Hardy and built in 1789. With extensive private gardens, a croquet lawn, tennis court, indoor heated swimming pool and spa, this luxurious four-star deluxe hotel lives up to the Relais and Châteaux motto of the 5 Cs - character, calm, charm, cuisine and courtesy. Comprising a total of 24 guest rooms, the air-conditioned property welcomes guests in a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service. Facilities on offer to guest include a hotel safe, newspaper stand, bar, conference facilities, WLAN Internet access, room service and a car park. For an additional fee a laundry service is provided. Guests may hire bicycles onsite.
Each of the guest rooms and suites has been individually designed using rich fabrics and antique furniture to create a tranquil haven for guests. Situated in the delightful village of Evershot, the hotel is perfectly placed for guests to explore the Dorset countryside, the setting of so many of the novels by Hardy. The towns of Sherborne, Dorchester and Lyme Regis are all nearby, as is stunning coastal scenery. The Yeovil Junction railway station can be reached in some 15 minutes by car.
