This Parador rises up on a beautiful castle founded by the King of Navarra Sancho Abarca in the 10th century an authentic fortress built with the defensive principles of the times and as an excellent viewpoint with beautiful panoramic views. The defensive appearance of the castle, with thick walls and only five windows on its exterior façade, does not impede the enjoyment of the guest on contemplating, from its splendid terrace the multicoloured waters of the river Bidasoa, forming the ay of Txingudi and acting as a natutal border between Spain and France.
