The Château d'Apigné is one of the loveliest castle hotels in France. Located in nearby Le Rheu, a short drive from the city centre, this Rennes hotel is in a graceful chateau built by a local family in 1833, inspired by the architecture of the French Renaissance. The Château d'Apigné is located in a 25 hectares/62 acre park that has been landscaped in the style of a formal English garden. A private building called La Serre (The Greenhouse) can be rented for business events or private functions. A heliport area is also located on the grounds. Gourmet dishes inspired by the chef?s international travels are served in the hotel?s formal restaurant, Les Tourelles (The Turrets). A more mysterious atmosphere can be experienced in La Cave (The Cave), the chateau?s old dining room with a vaulted brick ceiling, a tall chimney, and a bread oven. The Château d'Apigné is in the town of Le Rheu, in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in Brittany. The hotel is a short drive from a local golf course, Golf de la Freslonnière. Le Rheu is approx. 3 km/1.9 miles from the city limits of Rennes; a short drive takes visitors to the city?s main attractions, such as the Rennes Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Rennes) and the Museum of Fine Arts of Rennes (Musée des beaux-arts de Rennes) by the Vilaine River. From Le Rheu it?s approx. a 15 minute drive to the Rennes Saint-Jacques Airport or a 20 minute drive to the Rennes train station.
