The Castle of Alcaņiz, now a Parador, it became headquarters of the Order of Calatrava in 1179, the year in which was ceded by Alfonso II. Erected on the summit of the hill of Pui-Pinos, keeps the Tower of Homage, belfry-sacristy and the part that was reconverted into an Aragonese palace from the 13th century. At their feet we will find the old town, filled with arcaded squares and narrow streets balconies while maintaining medieval charms.
The 32 rooms feature wood beamed ceilings, and are austere and modestly ornamented to the keep the charm and the atmosphere of the past centuries when this castle was first built although all provide modern facilities. The rooms have marble bathrooms.
Guests can work out in the gym and relax in the sauna (fees apply). They can also make a number of cultural visits to nearby places including Alcaņiz, Lower Aragon, Maestrazgo and Matarranya. Other activities in the area include kayaking, sailing, rowing, 4x4 trails and mountain trails.

Alcaņiz is 105 km from Zaragoza, along the Nacional 232 highway towards Madrid, 65 km from Morella towars Castellón de La Plana and 155 km from Teruiel along the N-420 highway.
