The hotel is a magnificent example of Gothic Architecture and steeped in history. The Earl of Mar Estate holds many fascinating stories, with reference to Mary Queens of Scots and Robert the Bruce. Built in 1828 the present Mar Hall was constructed 100 years after the famous Earl's death. The hotel has undergone a massive restoration and is undoubtedly one of Scotland's premier hotels.
