Laticastelli is a Country Relais placed on the top of a Tuscan hill with an impressive view of the surrounding countryside.
Laticastelli, originally a XIIIth century castle and a medieval village, is now an exclusive 60 hectare resort for people who enjoy historic places combined with the art, culture and landscapes of Tuscany.
Laticastelli is a quite, secluded place. The swimming pool, also on the top of the hill, has an attractive design and a wonderful view over the valley. Beyond the fields there are olive trees, vineyards and woods, to walk, cycle or just relax.
This unique property, close to the Ombrone river, offers other exceptional advantages, such as a polo field and woods with winding paths to ride.
Laticastelli offers rooms and suites, each with its own individuality and design. This restoration has retained the old village’s feeling, recreating the atmosphere of the past, charm and character. Rustic furniture of peasant origins mixes with old doors and windows. Wooden beams are marble bend together in a charming combination of styles.
All the bedrooms have air-conditioning and ensuite bathrooms. The Suites have a spacious sitting room with a sofa that can be used as an extra bed, a kitchenette and TV.
In addition, one of the main assets of Laticastelli is its location in the heart of Tuscany. It is situated near Rapolano Terme, at 22km from Siena and with easy access to a four-lane highway. Nearby you will find many picturesque medieval villages, castles, churches, excellent restaurants and the spas of Rapolano Terme.


Laticastelli was originally a castle built at the beginning of the twelfth century.

With Armaiolo was part of a series of strong devices which are dedicated to protecting Siena from the south. The position was originally chosen as a camp for the Romans who were travelling from Siena to the baths. In ancient mapp, the main street for Siena ran along the river Ombrone.

During the centuries Siena fought and won several battles against Florence and Siena when he was finally defeated, as a sign of the Florentine revenge destroyed all the fortifications protecting the city, among which Laticastelli.

Centuries more 'latest was build again as a farm, part of an extended propery including about a thousand hectares, with its vineyards, cultivated fields, olive groves, mills, etc.

How to arrive

Laticastelli is located near the village of Rapolano Terme, 22 km from Siena, so its privileged location makes it the perfect spot from which to visit most of Tuscany.
Siena is only 15 minutes away and so is the Chianti Region. Firenze and San Gimigniano are within a 60 minute drive, and heading east or south you can visit Arezzo, Cortona, all the Val D'Orcia, and the wine area of the Terre Senese, including Montepulciano, Montalcino, Pienza, Perugia, and Assi.

Driving from Rome or Florence by the A1 Motorway:

Exit at KM 385 signed to Bettolle. Then follow the signs to Siena on the VALDICHIANA MOTORWAY for aprox. 23 kms, Pass Serre de Rapolano and just after the only tunnel on this road, take the exit to Rapolano Terme. Then turn always to the right and follow the signs to Laticastelli. Driving time: By the A1 Motorway, Laticastelli is 1 h 30 m from Rome or 60 min from Firenze.
