Cleaning
Just came back from 12 days at Macarella Suites in Cala En Bosc. We were greeted kindly by reception staff who gave us the room earlier than expected as we arrived at noon. The room was a duplex with great air conditioning and pool view. We ate out almost all the time (lots of places less than 5 minutes from hotel), but also managed to have a couple of lunches and dinners at the room. A dinner plus wine in the balcony was one of the highlights of our trip.
We only had breakfast at the hotel. It was good, but not great as it becomes repetitive after so many days.
Pool area is good, we even saw at night (not sure if allowed, but many people were swimming in the evening quietly). It can become a bit crowded at times, but ok. We always managed to find a couple of sunbeds even if not arriving until 11:30 am at pool area.
Rooms are very comfortable, new stuff and great AC (not always the case).
On the negative side, there are some things which should improve. We informed of them in the hotel satisfaction form provided at reception:
- Cleaning ladies on our floor (Block C- 3rd floor) were very loud since 8 am. They were just shouting and swearing as it was a market or something, not nice.
- Restaurant (snack place really) at pool is very very slow. We tried 3 days and everyday was getting worse. It took 40 minutes to get 2 simple hotdogs for kids. We talked to waiters, and the bottleneck is the kitchen as only one chef cannot cope. This should be improved.
- Breakfast: There was always a queue of several people waiting to get an omelette in the morning. I sometimes gave up as it would take 20 minutes. I noticed they beat the eggs for each omelette, I have seen that at others hotels they already have a large jar with eggs already beaten and ready to add ingredients.
Overall, a nice stay and would consider repeating. I would just recommend paying attention to the snack bar, and ask cleaning ladies (some of them I guess) to be more respectful and avoid swearing and screaming (especially at 8 am).
Positive: Good location: 5 minutes walk from the beach. The facilities are new. Comfortable room with good air conditioning.
Negative: The pool snack bar is very slow. Maid service were always shouting through the hallways and in the early morning.
