Mawamba Lodge is located between the Caribbean Sea and the canals of Tortuguero National Park and is only accessible by boat or plane.
It offers spacious rooms with rustic décor with wooden elements and a seating area and a private bathroom with a shower and toilet. They also include a private balcony with a hammock and rocking chairs.
An outdoor pool, tropical gardens and direct access to the beach. There is a restaurant serving an a la carte menu with local and international dishes.
Boat trips, kayaking and canoeing can be booked at the front desk. Walking tours to Cerro Tortuguero and night walks are organized. During the turtle nesting season (July to October) night excursions are organized.

How to arrive
The lodge lies in the North Eastern part of Costa Rica's Caribbean coast in Tortuguero Limón on a sand bank between Canales de Tortuguero and the sea. It offers guests perfect access to the unspoilt beach and the channels. The hotel building may only be reached by boat or by plane.

It can only be accessed by boat or plane. Due to this location, reaching Mawamba Lodge requires a combination of land and boat transportation.
For an additional fee, the lodge provides daily boat transfers from Guapiles Pier. If you prefer, you can arrange your own boat transfer, but you must inform the property of your expected arrival time at least 3 days in advance. To confirm your transportation method and request more information, please contact the property.
The reception is closed from 8:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Check-in outside normal reception hours is not permitted.
No private or public boat leaves the Pavona dock towards Tortuguero after 4:00 p.m. You must call the establishment before leaving for Tortuguero.
