Agia Pelagia is 12 miles west of Heraklion and has a narrow beach running around the bay edged with tavernas. Shopping consists of souvenirs, gold and silver shops, internet cafes, an ATM and supermarkets. Agia Pelagia, an ideal location for water sports including water-skiing, wind surfing and canoeing. The area has a regular bus service for those who want to explore further afield. Nightlife is quieter with no large clubs but a few bars and cafes.
