The Historic Ramada Downtown Vancouver was originally built in 1912, by the architect Otto Moberg. Originally named the Connaught Hotel for the Duke of Connaught, the 7th child of Queen Victoria, who visited Vancouver in the year the hotel was built. The site of the property has been housing travellers and visitors to Vancouver since 1890 when it was Mrs. Rose's Boarding House which later became the Modern Rooming House in 1907, operated by Miss Sarah Campbell, until the current property was built.
