The original settlement was probably built around the 8th century and, as it can be seen today, little has changed from when it was a hamlet in the Tuscany countryside inhabited by a small community. The chapel in the centre of the square, the surrounding houses, e narrow little streets, the small churches, the Romanic church and the palace which belonged to the owners of the village, the Taja family which ruled this part of Tuscany up to the 18th century. In 1991, after careful restoration, the village was transformed into a prestigious multi-site hotel.
From Milan/Florence: Drive on the A1 motorway to Florence and exit at Firenze Certosa. Take the expressway to Siena. Pass all the exits to Siena continuing driving in the direction of Arezzo/Perugia SS73. After about 7 km, turn right to exit for Casetta. Follow signs to Bossi, Montaperti, San Felice and Gaiole. Keep driving on this road, following the signs for Bossi. Pass the villages of Montaperti and San Piero. After San Piero turn right following signs for Bossi and San Felice. At the big black sign for 'Castello di Bossi' turn left and pass Bossi. Then, after 2 km, arrive at the property. From Rome: take the A1 Rome-Florence highway and exit at Valdichiana. Take the expressway in the direction of Siena. After about 30 km, turn right to Castelnuovo Berardenga. Pass the village of Castelnuovo Berardenga, following signs to Gaiole in Chianti. Keep driving on this road (SS 484) and pass the village of Villa a Sesta. After Villa a Sesta keep following signs to San Felice.
The connected restaurant 'Poggio Rosso' offers traditional Tuscan dishes, inspired by the best Italian traditions and accompanied by wonderful wines produced at the residence. A continental breakfast buffet is served each morning, and set menu and à la carte options are available for lunch and dinner.
The building offers elegant and comfortable suites and double rooms with traditional furnishings and Tuscan antiquities, preserving the authentic atmosphere of the ancient noble residences of Chianti. How to arrive
San Felice is in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the southern part of the Chianti Classico area, twenty kilometres from Siena. Its location is ideal for excursions to San Gimignano and Volterra, Florence, Arezzo, Montepulciano and Montalcino.
By car from Milan: take the Florence A1 highway and exit at Firenze Impruneta.
Take the expressway for Siena and then the slip road SS73 for Siena, ignoring the various exits from the city. After about 7 kilometres turn right at the Casetta exit and then head towards Bossi, San Felice, Monteaperti, Gaiole etc.
Continue towards Bossi, passing through Monteaperti and San Piero; after San Piero turn right and then left for the Bossi farms. About a kiometre after Bossi you come to Borgo San Felice.
By car from Rome: take the A1 highway towards Forense and exit at Valdichiana.
Take the slip road for Siena and after about 30 kilometres take the exit on the right for Castelnuovo Berardenga. Once through the town on the 484 state road keep on towards Gaiole in Chianti. After about 10 kilometres, once past the town of Villa a Sesta, you will find the turn for San Felice on the left.
