The 2 restaurants provide an imaginative choice of dining. The Lakeview Restaurant offers a fine 7-course dining experience (2 AA Rosettes) in ambient surroundings with impeccable service and food of superb quality. It is traditional in design with dark red napkins, tablecloths and chairs contrasted by dashes of cream, and natural light streaming in through the huge windows. John Ruskins essentially is a more contemporary Brasserie serving delicious dishes from all over the world. White is the dominant colour here and it is an impressive place for more relaxed dining. The hotel also has a large conservatory overlooking the lake and serving drinks and light meals all day, including scrumptious sandwiches and delightful home-baked biscuits - a must.
A beautiful traditional hotel which enjoys lake frontage and private gardens running down to the lakeshore.
The hotel also boasts a fantastic 17m swimming pool which overlooks the lake and is surrounded by glass panels with etched impressions of the lake land. The steam room, sauna, gymnasium, and 3 luxury spa treatment rooms (and relaxation area) finish off the leisure facilities on offer. This is an exceptional hotel and worthy of its status as probably the finest 4-star hotel in the Lake District. Its peace, tranquillity and private location are unparalleled.(GW 03/2008)
All rooms are in a very good condition and are of a medium/large size, with full facilities and en suite bathrooms. The rooms are all individually decorated in bright colours and are all of an exceptional standard. The hotel had some of the softest towels I've ever used and the most comfortable beds.

This hotel is located at Newby Bridge, which is at the southern end of Lake Windermere. It is 6 miles from Bowness and Windermere station. The ever-popular Windermere cruise yachts operate from just outside the hotel, as does a steam locomotive offering trips to the local village of Haverthwaite some 10 miles further south.
