The kitchen team produces tempting dishes based on local, national and international cuisine, with an emphasis on the use of locally produced fresh food. Relaxed and unpretentious, dinner is served by the restaurant team each evening in either the Conservatory or Sawmill dining room. The hotel provides ideal options for a light snack in the lounge or a full evening dinner.
The hotel is nestled in a courtyard garden setting. The hotel dates back to 1659, and the facade reflects this, although constant maintenance work is in place to keep the building in tact. Car parking is available at the rear of the hotel.
The hotel opened in 1973 with the first building and now comprises a collection of six historically listed buildings. These have been restored from dereliction over the past 30 years by the Clark family and sympathetically modernised, providing a variety of styles throughout the 54 bedrooms. There are no lifts in any of the buildings; however ground-floor rooms are available (subject to availability). Facilities at the hotel include a 24-hour reception, hotel safe, bar, restaurant and conference facilities. WLAN Internet access is available, room service and laundry service are offered (both for a fee) and there is a car park for guests.
Children are welcome in the Fitness centre, though there are some restrictions for those under 18.
All rooms are medium in size and are decorated in a variety of styles. The rooms are all in fair condition as are the bathrooms. The rooms all have the amenities that one would expect, tea/coffee making facilities, etc. The rooms are scattered around the hotels grounds in a number of buildings, thus varying in style.
Guests have access to the Emperor's Fitness Centre with a gym, sun terrace (fee applies), sauna and swimming pool, as well as The Lime Tree Salon at Emperor's, which provides a full range of massage and beauty treatments (fees may apply).
