The Macdonald Houstoun House is actually three houses in one: the towerhouse complemented by an elegant country manor and charming steading. This characterful combination ensures that most rooms boast wonderful views across the hotel¿s gardens or beyond to the Ecclesmachan Hills. Built in the early 17th century by John Shairp, the old tower of Houstoun remained the Shairp family home for 350 years. All 71 guest rooms are tastefully furnished and well equipped, coming as standard with full en suite facilities, satellite television, direct dial telephone, modem point, hairdryer, iron and board, trouser press, complimentary mineral water, working area with desk and a shoe shine service. An extensive wine list, together with skilful presentation of dishes and fresh local produce, have made Houstoun one of the most outstanding restaurants in Scotland¿s central belt. The award winning fine dining restaurant is situated on the first floor in the historic 16th century tower. Alternatively, the Leisure Cl
