Catherine's Restaurant is named after Henry VIII's 6th wife Catherine Parr (Kendall was once home to her) and is located to the left of the main Lobby. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The best of local ingredients are used to create good cuisine complimented by a fine wine list. The Westmorland Gazette Bar - aptly named after the regions local papaer - proudly displays photgraphs of the regions history and is a good place for a relaxed drink after a long day.

The hotel is steeped in history having originally been built as an orphanage for young girls in the 1850's. It is traditional in design and made from locally quarried stone.

The hotel dates back to the 19th century has been extensively modernised and converted into the fine hotel that it is today. It is situated on the fringe of the medieval market town of Kendal. Catherine's Restaurant, named after Catherine Parr, the sixth wife of Henry VIII, opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner to residents and non-residents alike offering the very best of Cumbrian cuisine, using locally sourced fresh ingredients. There are 30 rooms in total at this charming hotel. Guests are welcomed in the lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out services and a hotel safe. The hotel also has wedding and conference facilities, wireless Internet access throughout and ample parking. By car from the M6, take exit 36 onto the A590, signposted to South Lakes and Kendal. Do not take the left turn to Barrow but continue on the A591. Guests will pass a BP petrol station on the left, take the next exit signposted South Kendal, A6. Follow this road and guests will find the hotel on the left-hand side at the brow of the hill.

The guest rooms have been furnished to the very highest standard. As well as comfortable double beds, all come with a TV, telephone, plenty of hanging space, tea and coffee making facilities, a writing desk, and a hairdryer.
